What would be a good gift to get my boss?

I am finishing up a really fantastic internship, and I want to get my boss a gift at the end of the summer. He was really a terrific boss, and I want to get him something nice. I am a biz school intern, so I have a higher pricepoint than the typical intern.
I was thinking of getting him a bottle of wine and a gift certificate to a restaurant, but are gift certificates tacky in this situation? What about getting him some company branded knicknacks and something else? Any original ideas would be appreciated!

Keep it professional. Something he can have at the office that is practical and that when seen or used, will remind him or her of the effort you put in as an intern with their company.
The most memorable one I ever received was a beautifully framed plaque that had a saying that I used all the time on it, that still sits on my desk, no matter where I travel to this very day.
I still remember the two young interns names and the work that they did and I also know where they both are working and how great they became.
Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders, so go out and find something that means something, not something that can be used and then forgotten.

I agree with Jo Anna1 – The Sharper Image or Brookstone are good ideas coupled with something he can use at the Office. There are some beautiful glass Paperweights around.
I think something like that would be much preferred to wine etc.

You could go to one of this gadget stores like Brookstone, Sharper Image and get him something he might like. For example, a nice pen, something cool for the desk, if a golf player something for that. Just a detail nothing too big, you don’t want to seem like you are a brown noser ….you know
