What is a patriotic way to clean the American Flag?

Very General asked:
During a recent windstorm our flag was blown off and landed on the ground. I’ve thought about putting it in the washing machine, but feel it deserves to special treatment.
The other option is not doing anything – leaving the dirt as a symbol – “our flag was still there”.

I fly my flag all the time and when it gets dirty I treat the stains with spray-n-wash and put it in the washing machine with some Tide. It comes out all bright an clean. A clean flag is very patriotic.
If it makes you feel better, you can sing the Star Spangled Banner while it is in the wash cycle.

Just put it in the washer, it’s fine. Treating the flag “special” is just a symbolic statement.

Traditionally, if a flag touches the ground, it is supposed to be destroyed.

i wouldn’t touch it leave it the way it is.do not put it in the washing machine if you want to do anything to it wash it down with alittle bit of vinegar and water thats it.
