What is a good gift for a 17 year olds birthday?

What do 17 year old guys like now? I have to buy a birthday gift for a family member turning 17 this month. I think giving him money is cheesy and a cop out. I don’t want to spend very much as we have other family birthdays coming this month yet. Any ideas?

give him a gift card to a store that has stuff he likes. Video games? Game Stop. Music? iTunes (if he has an iPod) or a local music store.
Or you could cheat a bit and go to Best Buy, Circuit City, or the like and get him a gift card. He’ll find something! And if you want to be super lazy (admit it sometimes its just too easy) both store listed above have websites so you can get an e-certificate and and he can use it online too.

How about a gift card – they have those visa cards now. Or an itunes gift card if they’re into downloading music. A funny T-shirt maybe. Or some fireworks! A video or CD they may like. Webcams are inexpensive if they don’t have one. Or an inexpensive digital camera (the little ones are atleast good enough to post pictures on the web). Socks. A certificate to a shoe store or mall. A couple of special-interest magazines or books if they’re a reader. A really cool flashlight. CD players are $10 now if they don’t have one. Jumbo pack of batteries (if they go through them like water – depending what they own some teens do). Pizza Hut certificate. A beach towel. A certificate for two movie tickets. And I know you don’t like giving cash – but I will say – they love it lol.

One thing that I love to give guys of all ages is multi-tools. Like a Leatherman or a Gerber (I prefer Gerbers, I own one myself that my husband covets.) Most of the time younger guys don’t think to have one of their own, and you almost always find yourself using them. Besides that they have a varied price range if you don’t have a large budget. Small ones normally start around $20.00. You can find them in camping stores and Target. You can see an example at the below link.

Kids that age, male or female are impossible to buy for. The only option is a gift certificate…go for it…that is the only way that you will put a smile on the kids face.
