WOW. Well let me speak as someone from a 3rd world country. First of all Valentine’s day is also celebrated over here(I’m from South Africa), so its not only an american or european holiday.
And really we do what you do. Or rather people from my country do what you guys from “1st world countries” do. We’ve got whatever you guys have, so really not everyone from 3rd world countries eat dirt cookies. Gosh that’s sad.

This is very sad. Unfortunately, it is happening all over the world. Children and adults are starving while some of us have more than our belly fulls. I really hear what you’re saying about the Hallmark Holiday. This money could go to people in dire need in our communities and all over the world. I sincerely hope your question reaches a lot of people. However, I would like to leave God out of this.

This reminds me of a question from a friend after I had spent a few years in Cambodia. She was all into fitness and running and asked if people in Cambodia were into working-out. It’s hard to think of an answer to that without screaming, “They work long, grueling days just to survive, you pampered idiot!” Valentine’s Day as a holiday is pretty well unknown outside N. America, Europe, Australia, or other European-influenced places. What a miserable existence some people lead, while people here have to “work out” to wear off the junk food they eat.

those ppl have their own celebrations. Valentines day is American made-up holiday, may be some Europeans celebrate -but that is it.
And there is nothing called “third world” or “1st world” there is one world, they eat, sleep, talk and die just like you do.
