What can be a last minute homemade wedding gift?

I’m going to a last minute wedding next week and don’t have the money to buy a nice expensive gift. I’ve seen ideas about photo albums and decorating the invitation. Any other ideas??

birthday gift ideas
If you are skilled in the kitchen you might be able to do this:
make sauce (spag) and put in a jar- attatch the recipe to it. Pick up some gourmet pasta, a nice bottle of wine, 2 wine glasses…you can also pick up a dinner roll mix, or something like that too…basically you can put together a romantic dinner for 2- you can do this nicely in the 40-50 $ range

Do you have any special skills that the bride and groom may appreciate?
can you offer: free legal advice? Landscape architechture? massage therapy? are you an aestitician? are you a proffessional engineer and can stamp their costruction plans (if applicable)? are you an auto mechanic, you can offer them a tune up?

A scrapbook of pics/memoriblia from the both of your lives together thus far. Scrapbooks take lots of thought and lots of love put into them!!!!

Maybe make them an artwork and frame it. It can be anything. Abstract is the easiest if you ar low on ideas and if you know the colour scheme of their house it can tie in quite well.
How about a gourmet hamper pack. Maybe make some Yoyo biscuits (buttery and delicious so they keep well), some crackers and cheese selection, sun dried tomatos and olives, make your own chocolates in cute designs, put in a bottle of wine and some glasses then bundle it all up in a basket. You can put in anything you like making that won’t need to be refrigerated.

Burn a CD of romantic songs that you know your friend would enjoy… and title it “My Best Friend’s Wedding.” I did this and the bride and groom loved it… they played it continuously at their reception. It was such an honor. Make the CD cover a photo of them.

Decorate a scrapbook or index card holder, perhaps with the invitation. Print out some of your favorite recipe, including little anecdotes or stories about why the recipe is special. If possible, include some that would have a special meaning to the bride or groom (“your mother gave me this recipe when I got married”, or “I found this recipe after you and I had a great meal at XXXX restaurant ten years ago”. etc.) If you can afford it, include some special ingredients (a few strands of saffron, unusual spices, something homemade from the farm stand, gourmet pasta, and so forth.)

Someone here once suggested making a gift certificate for a service. Like give so many hours of housekeeping or yard work. Or you can give some hours of babysitting if the couple has children. Or give them a gift certificate for a home-cooked meal at your place.

Buy a basic plain scrapbook and decorate it in the colors of their wedding and on the first page put in the invitation, and they can do the rest of their album.

Buy a gift card to nice restaurant that they like and that they can use later after they’ve settled back into life.

Buy a nice card and write a check. That’s about the only tasteful thing you can do at this point.
