Valentine’s Day for friends?

Is Valentine’s Day just for couples and married people? I am good friends with a woman and I was wondering if it is all right right to give her a card and gift for Valentine’s Day? We were in a relationship last summer, but the relationship ended over 5 months ago now. Since the relationship has ended, we have been able to remain friends and to have a good friendship. I do value our friendship and I do care and value her as a person and friend. I would like to give her a card and gift for Valentine’s Day, because she is a good friend, but I don’t know if I should. Maybe I should let Valentine’s Day pass by. Please let me know what you think. I especially would like to hear from women that have male friends – do they give you anything for Valentine’s Day? Just to let you know, we are both Christians. Thank you for your replies.

i think valentines day isnt just for couples, first of all it was actualy a made up holiday by hallmark.. its all about the money these days. me and my family exchange valentines day stuff every year both adults and kids. im 19, when i was in hs i would get my friends gifts all the time on valentines day. i say that i think its safe to get her a gift if uese realy are close friends, just dont get her something that would give her the impression that u still like her even if u dont. a card is cool just make sure its a “friend card” a gift is cool too, even a rose just make sure its yellow because yellow is for friendship

i think valentines day is not for couples only, sometimes i send cards for my friends and family or call them and say i care about them.
your situation is a bit complicated but just a little bit. i think card and a gift is ok, but you should make it clear that it’s not a sign “be mine again forever and ever i love you”, cos you may really confuse her.

If she’s just a friend and you want to keep her that way, or she wants to keep it that way, then forget about it. Valentine’s day is overrated anyway. Let it go son.

i tink u should get her a valentines gift… u no to tell her that u appreciate the freindship that u to have shared…. just be simple on the stuff u buy her though because then it would look like u guys r going out or u want 2 go out….. something simple but yet beautiful. ;9

You know, they make cards for “Friends”. You could add to the card and tell her how much you appreciate her friendship; and have a Happy Valentine’s Day!
