I know it’s customary not to wear white shoes after Labor Day, but I have my eye on a pair of strappy silver heels and am wondering if they’d be all right to wear. Any advice? Thanks.

Ok, so I’m sure many people have heard that you shouldn’t wear white shoes after labor day, but Why? I hadn’t heard this until I was maybe 18, and just thought it was absurd, since I never paid attention to that anyway. Where did the idea come from?
I assume that if this is from the old days, that doctors and nurses were exempt from the rule if they had to wear all white.
