My male friend of 4 years, whom I get along with very well, gave me a bottle of perfume on my birthday. There has been heightened sexual tension between us for the last three months and I got this present a couple of days after my birthday, which is the day we have kissed unexpectedly. We have so far resisted all this tension due to my marriage. He is single, but loves women in general. My only concern for us is to make sure our friendship is unharmed by any sexuality that may occur because I value him a lot as a person. We have neither talked about how we will proceed at this stage nor do we intend to talk since we cannot handle a relationship due to many reasons. I am confused about all this happening and need your insight to form a clear opinion, especially where I should see myself in his world.

I actually thought that by getting out of an emotionally draining marriage I would finally have some time to myself and some peace in my life. Ending the marriage was definately a good decision, I don’t ever doubt that, but, about the peace and quiet…I DID enjoy it for awhile,actually for several YEARS, but now that I am spending Holidays and long weekends pretty much alone, the silence and peacefullness is almost deafening!!! And, I **** to say it, and I hope it’s not only me or I am going to become very concerned about myself, well, you see, the thing is…..I absolutely **** any holiday, and especially these 3 day weekends when I’m supposed to be celebrating some Hallmark kind of day, and it just “ain’t” happening. I suppose the song is not quite right (not the afore/above mentioned song) but the one about rocks and ilands and feeling no pain…well what I really mean is, I am not a rock, nor an island, and I am definately feeling pain. Why do holidays **** so much? 4 U 2 ? :{

Husband and I received a book entitled ‘Live Well on Less Than you Think’ for Christmas from MIL…we are in our mid to late thirties, not just starting out, by the way. Husband makes a very good salary and has saved a substantial amount for retirement over the years- which his mother knows. MIL thinks world is too material and lives very modestly (on purpose) in a rural, isolated area.I was pissed at the ‘gift’ but didn’t tell husband…a couple of years ago I was experiencing a lot of stress at work and at the same time was working on completing an advanced degree in my field. Lo and behold I received a book from her entitled ‘Women Who Think Too Much’ (my husband had mentioned to her that I was experiencing stress at work, but did not go into detail. The stress was not affecting our marriage as we get along well and help each other through things like this). Even if DO think too much, I found it totally inappropriate to send me this book. Do these gifts seem passive aggressive?
