This is my first Christmas at my new company. My boss gave everyone their holiday gifts already ($50 giftcard). Do I have to give her a gift. If so, how much, and got any ideas what? What about other co-workers?

For Christmas I got my bf a movie he wanted and a box of his favourite chocolates. I also crocheted a scarf for him. Does this sound like a good gift for him? The scarf is dark green and has two black stripes.

I’ve a twisted sense of humor, an appreciation for irony, and a fairly sentimental soul. But whenever my missus turns on the tube, it’s always these god-awful, super-sacharrine, syrupy made-for-TV flicks either on The Hallmark Channel or similar tripe. The kind where you can predict the ending within the first 10 minutes of the movie, complete with the stereotypical plot devices such as the terminally ill wife or child, the disgruntled person who gave up on Santa/Jesus/power-of-love/etc, and the angelic intervention that will save Christmas in the nick of time.

I mean, if you can stomach that stuff, you’re a tougher hombre than me. But for the more jaded and gritty types, any thing you’d recommend?

Seriously anyone that is not a bad thing. I have a friend who does so I wanted to know if anyone started Christmas shopping that early.

holiday gifts

I have to *make* a gift for someone’s birthday, which is several days after christmas, however, they live 1500 miles away, so I really need to ship it — which means I probably want to ship it as early as possible as well.

The girl I like is also one of my better friends, so I want it to be something memorable, but I don’t want a gift to be overly romantic either.

I want it to be a real object — not something look cookies or a CD or something.

The girl is Venezuelan, so if I could incorporate that somehow (for instance, if something had to deal with birds, use the Venezuelan state bird) that would probably work to my advantage as well

The other thing is that since I am going to have to ship it, it has to be something not too delicate, or that can be easily and safely packaged.

Please, help. I really can’t think of anything that doesn’t require a lot more planning ahead.

I’m 17 and my boyfriend is turning 19 on Saturday, the 6th. We’ve been together for 3 years. He’s really into baseball and since we’ve been together all I’ve ever gotten him is autographed baseball memorabilia and I’m getting really bored with that. It will be too cold to do anything outside. He already got a lot of electronics, cds and movies for Christmas.

I already got him some more autographs and I’m going to bring him breakfast, but I need more ideas.

I don’t want anything sexual, or the “love coupons” things.
Anything else??
He already got all the video game consoles/games he wanted for Christmas.

This is “Merry Tossmas,” an ostensibly humorous little video reacting to catalogs that say “holiday” instead of “Christmas.” He’s all offended that they say “holiday” (never mind that people give gifts for Hanukkah and the Winter Solstice, too), so his “new holiday” is “Tossmas,” where he tosses holiday catalogs in the trash.

Yep, the cheerful sound of “It’s CHRISTmas, not just a *holiday*!” whining starts up again. Makes me long for carols. And I **** carols.

So what do y’all think?
Once again: PEOPLE GIVE GIFTS ON HANUKKAH AND THE WINTER SOLSTICE. Which also happen in December. Which he ignored and which others, apparently, would love to ignore.

As a Witch, I think I get his point, which sounds an awful lot like “Sit down, shut up, and just be happy you’re permitted out in public to buy anything.”
