Why not cook all of grandpas favorites, the whole meal and dessert and take it too grandpa.
Golf balls are always a great present and t’s. Also, a gift certificate from the clubhouse, where he could pick what he wants, or have lunch at.
gifts for her
I would opt for a new watch as a gift and a French restaurant to eat.

We got a digital photo frame from my son and his wife and they loaded it with family pictures and intermixed with the pictures nature scenes because I really like that. It sits on the table in the living room and the pictures change every few seconds from nature scene to family pic. I love it. Also the one we have has the outside temperature on it too. I like that feature.
They have all kinds and colors.
He probably goes to the restaurants he likes to go to so I would go to one of those to be safe and not pick a new one.

Take him to any place he wants to go to eat!!! Find some really old photos and have a few enlarged!! He can look at them everyday and brings back good memories!!!
gift for
Buy him about 3 dozen Tietlist golf balls. Then ask him where he would like to eat! Simple – no muss no fuss!

Somebody said no “in” places, so true, my kids want to take me out to their places and I **** it. Well my son does, my daughter is much smarter. Take him to those old restaurants where they are down home. And that bit about pictures of grand kids and spending time is so true. Don’t get in a hurry. Just sit and let him spin some tales. Our paw paw likes golf balls because he still golfs at 84. And ditto on the fine single malt.
holiday gifts
first of all find out what is his favorite restaurant and take him there — when i was younger i never wore a house coat – not i think it is rather nice on cool evening to shower and put on clean pjs and a nice warm house coat and spend the evening putting around the home!!!
gift for
I think they like to go to restaurants where they can talk to other
people at the same table. Not noisy “in” spots. And they
especially like it if they don’t get stuck with the bill.
Loud Noise is a fun killer for elderly
gift idea
grandparents don’t want gifts anymore they just want your company and a card to look at w/ a photo perhaps
gifts for men
any restaurant is fine. does he have a favorite?what kind of food does he like? my dad’s 80 and will go anywhere we take him.
as far as gifts go, at 82, they pretty much have everything they need or want. since he like golf, buy him a round with a cart. or offer you services.

Yep – Grandpas start getting difficult to buy for at that age!! Mine died at 92 and for the last 10 years or so we got him things like books, ciggies (well he was a smoker). I used to get a little basket and buy different teas, jams, marmalades, biscuits, etc to put in it – if yours like food you could find lots of little things. Easy to look after plants are good. Would he benefit from something like a microwave, radio, etc? My Gramps was also very appreciative of a fine single malt Scottish whiskey. Hope this has given you a few ideas!

If I’m taking anyone who might be potentially fussy out to dinner I tend to stick to steak house or english however I tried tapas when my family came to visit and it went down well because we ordered a bit of everything and the fussy eaters got to pick (I **** fish, mum hates meat, husband likes everything, MIL has wheat allergy etc etc lol…eating out is a pain!!) , they generally also have a nice atmosphere too.
Someone suggested making a photobook..this is a good idea. I did one for my grandad recently and he loved it. I scanned all the pictures in and arranged them chronologically in a Word format …there are particular programmes that make it easier but I’m a bit of a technophobe so I stick to what I know! I added dates, comments, locations where possible next to each picture and printed it onto high quality photo paper. It took me ages to find but I found a plain cover (the types that resteraunts use (ie with the brass screws to bind them) and presented it as a book. He was over the moon as was everyone..the only problem being that now all his children (my aunts and uncles) and his siblings want copies…it’s gonna cost a small fortune lol.
Or you could source an old and a new ariel map of where he grew up and get them framed as a before and after (easy enough to locate) cheap to do.
On the same theme you could source literature of where he grew up..we recently did this for my nan and found a series of books sourced from village locals..she loved it and we have all spent hours looking at them..because we come from a small town we all recognise the area and some of our family are in them.
Family tree.
My dad (65) has a bad back and I recently bought him a chair cover with lumbar support that has a built in massager, he loves it.
New bedding (ie duvet, pillows…duckdown etc). May sound daft but this is something that people don’t think to replace so much and if they have had the existing ones for years they get thin and crappy (or, maybe they bought cheap in the first place -my parents have never splashed out) my husband and I replaced my mum n dads not so long ago and they were thrilled to bits at the difference it made (we also bought new covers and curtains…nearly as good as a makeover).
Make him a hamper…nice cheese, good wine, a port, a good cut of meat etc etc…treats that he may not think to buy!
I have never been to Canada so can’t think of anything along that thread and golf isn’t my thing (everything golf related I buy the husband never gets used so I guess I’m bad at golf stuff??)
Sorry that I can’t think of anything original, my family is very hard to buy for so we tend to stick to a good whisky or fave tipple x
***EDIT***
An LP to iPod converter. If he’s like me he still has a secret stash of LPs tucked away somewhere that he loves to listen to, but doesn’t any more because his equipment is broken, or just too old.
How about a turntable that converts his LPs into a format to play on an iPod or Nano, with software to help eliminate those annoying pops and crackles that are so common on LPs?….if you like this last one I copied from a website, the link is below….I quite like this and it is maybe something you could do for him…they also have something similar for 35mm or negative to digital.
gifts for him
make up a photo album of his live, put in it what you can find from his past, photos, certificates, school report cards ,a bit like scrap booking of his life.or, use some of his favourite things , and objects he used in the past ,in hobbies ,job and at home ,put in a frame behind glass , this can then be hung on a wall where he’ll see it often.these are personal and significant to him ,and a lovely everlasting memory of his life.
ask him where he’d like to have dinner.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA !!!. and have great time all of you.
gifts
Give him a lifetime membership at a country golf club.
birthday gifts
Well if he’s in good health and gets around well(plays golf) maybe he would like a buffet type meal(likes to eat a lot).
Put some family photos on a DVD for him as a slide show. Hopefully you’ll come up with a good idea for a gift.
Many times at 82 a person has all they want. Good luck.
