Everyone here is right as far as New ERA being the official caps of MLB, but if the hat is new, it should also have a MLB hologram on it, the way the NFL and NCAA do to indicate that it is officially licensed MLB merchandise.

Other manufacturers are liscenced to make caps. The advantage of these is that there are many more styles to choose from.
Fitted caps are tough to give as a gift because the size has to be perfect. Some people like the hat to fit tightly so it won’t fall off or slide around. Others like it loose. I used to play baseball, so I wear my hats pulled down snugly just past my eyebrows. I have to buy fitted hats one size larger than I measure because within a few months, they shrink.
Hats with Flex-Fit bands are a good alternative. After a few years, the elasticity will wear out.
Pick something that fits his personal style. If he has stated that he wants a fitted cap, check his collection for the right size. If he doesn’t have a fitted hat yet, take him to the store so you can get the right one.
