Well, graduation is supposed to be the best day of the grad’s life. This is the point of their life whenthey should take on full responsibility. They will need money to do so. I think under money wise, 45 would be great. If you wanted a gift to give, you can never go wrong with a great card and a small gift.

if he is then you need to give $50(recommended) but if thats to much for you financially or if your never really going to see them again OR IF THEY ARE NOT EVEN INVITING YOU TO THE CEREMONY AND JUST THE PARTY than give them $20

( also if you don’t even want to waste money just call and say you will be unable to make it- its probably not going to be any fun whatsoever and you can take yourself out for a treat =] )

in the future if you are really close family then you need to give $100 and if its your close friend you can range from $50-20

graduation is very special
so something like $20 is kinda cheep, this is a ceremony of completing what could be his/hers life education so something like a stereo,ipod,mp3 or something in that range

20 or 25$ is fine, anymore is just unnecessary because they are probably getting so much money they wont remember who gave what.

Oh, no! $20 is not accecptable! $40 is great as a gift for a graduate. Keep in mind it probably wasn’t the graduate who invited you, but the grad’s parents! You should especially give $40 if you don’t attend the graduation. Just think about it $20 bucks doesn’t buy you much anymore. A t-shirt maybe, but if you give the grad 40 bucks, they’re only about ten dollars away from a minifridge for their dorm! Wouldn’t you want 40 bucks from everyone if you were a grad?

With type of people look for gift they normally look for cash
A card and $10 or $20 is good. If you too generous, you will be broke the next day. They will like to inviting you more often to their party.

we have lots of distant family that i sent to because i was valedictorian and most of them sent $25.
however, one of my mom’s old friends who was there to hear my speech sent $50.
$20-$25 is fine, but it really will mean a lot to the student to get more. i say look at their financial situation. if they are well off, go smaller, but if they are struggling, go higher.
we are losing our house at the end of the month so money for college is very tight (i have mostly a full ride but have to pay housing, fees, and buy all my dorm stuff/books/school supplies).
either way just give from your heart and it really will be appreciated by the graduate.
