Good red wine suggestion for my boss’ Christmas gift?
Nicole T asked:
My boss is Italian and every Christmas, I get him a bottle or two of wine. I usually ask the store manager for recommendations, but figured I might be able to get great ones here. I believe he is partial to petite syrah. I have another gift, but I can go up to $40-50 for the wine.
He very rarely drinks white wine, so red is definitely more practical. I want him to be able to enjoy it, not let it sit and collect dust!

unique gift
Does he collect wine? Does he age it? My boss loves wine and what I have found works best is to buy him something he doesn’t drink. He loves French and Califormia wines so every year I buy a bottle of something that might be new and exciting to him. If he enjoys Petit Syrahs then he would also enjoy a Tempranillo from Spain. I think giving wine lovers something they aren’t expecting but will enjoy is the whole point of experiencing wine.
romantic gift
Silver Oak
You will be promoted.
gifts for him
A Massolino Barolo is an excellent Italian wine. It will fall within budget.

May I suggest a 2005 Bordeaux? The 2005 vintage is being hailed by many as the best in a generation, if not the “vintage of the century”. There’s lots of excellent bottles available in your price range. Just be sure to get one that is drinkable now, unless your boss is the type that will age it for 7-10 years.
perfect gift
Salutations,
ask him his opinion of good reds you should try, that way He will be off guard and suprized. Cheers.
anniversary gifts
Since he is Italian he should appreciate a good Italian wine. I would go with a good Chianti. Chianti is from the Tuscan region and is very tasty. If he is partial to petite syrah you might get him that.
birthday gifts
You need to ask him what he likes to get one that means something good to him. “I think he likes” does not work. You can get a better quality Chianti to celebrate his heritage and also a good Cab from CA such as Jordan’s.

Does it have to be a red? I’m tellin’ you, a bottle of extra dry Prosecco says a whole lot. ‘Tis only the best.

A good quality Beaujolais or Merlot would be nice.
