I was invited to a shower and in the invitation was their registry information. Does that mean I buy a gift from the registry for the bridal shower AND another gift for the wedding? I thought the bridal shower was for the bride, and the wedding gift is for the new life of the couple, thus the registry.

I attended a bridal shower for a coworker about a month ago. Soon after, she told all of us at work that the wedding was off and she returned all of her gifts to the appropriate givers. The problem is that I feel bad taking the gift back (it was a gift card that can be used even if she is not getting married), but I don’t want to embarrass her by insisting she keep it.
